Working with E316LT-1
Is E316LT-1 easy to machine?
Deposit machines like 316L — work-hardens fast; use sharp carbide, positive rake, heavy feed and flood coolant, and remove slag/oxide before cutting.
Can E316LT-1 be welded?
DCEP, 100 % CO₂ (–1) or 75–80 % Ar/CO₂ (–4), 20–30 L/min, 15–25 mm stickout; keep interpass ≤ 150 °C, no preheat, redry damp spools per producer instructions and deslag every pass.
Can E316LT-1 be formed, bent or molded?
Not a formable product form; weld beads may be lightly peened or ground but heavy cold work of the deposit is not recommended.
