What is C96300?
C96300 is an intermediate-nickel cast copper-nickel from the C96000 series, sitting between the 90-10 and 70-30 cast grades in both strength and seawater corrosion resistance. In the default condition it provides 275 MPa yield, 470 MPa tensile, 18% elongation and 140 HB, and is supplied as sand, investment and centrifugal castings with M01, M02, M04, M07 and SR conditions on file. It is a solid-solution alloy, not age-hardenable, so machining is gummy and casting requires clean melt practice and heavy risering. Where higher strength is needed, C96400 or the precipitation-hardening C96600 are the nearest alternatives. C96300 has a density of 8.9 g/cm³ (0.322 lb/in³), heavier than 77% of copper alloy grades. It melts at 1,165°C (2,129 °F). C96300 has a yield strength of 275 MPa (39.9 ksi) and a tensile strength of 470 MPa (68.2 ksi) — stronger than 57% of copper alloy grades. Elongation at break is 18% and the elastic modulus is 145 GPa (21 Msi).

Working with C96300
Is C96300 easy to machine?
Gummy and work-hardening — use sharp, positive-rake carbide, heavy positive feed, rigid setups and generous coolant; avoid dwelling.
Can C96300 be welded?
Readily GTAW/GMAW welded with 70-30 type Cu-Ni filler (ERCuNi); keep surfaces free of sulfur/oil, use low heat input and no preheat.
Can C96300 be formed, bent or molded?
Cast product only — requires clean, deoxidized melt (Nb/Mn/Si control), high pouring temperature and heavy risering to avoid shrinkage porosity.

What surface finishes work on C96300?
Not anodizable; pickle/passivate, then leave bare for seawater (self-healing oxide) or apply epoxy/antifouling-compatible coatings; polishes to a bright, tarnish-resistant finish.
Surface treatments FabDigit runs on copper alloy parts — pick them in the quote configurator or call them out on the drawing. Each links to its datasheet in the surface-finish library (thickness, specs, call-out, material verdicts).
