What is C92500?
C92500 is a cast tin bronze from the C90000–C95999 family, alloyed with nickel and phosphorus to raise strength, wear resistance and pressure-tightness over plain tin bronzes. In the default condition it gives 152 MPa yield, 303 MPa tensile, 20 % elongation and 80 HB, with service to 260 °C, so it is specified for gears, bearings and pressure-containing castings produced by sand, permanent-mold and centrifugal casting. It is a cast-only alloy with a machinability rating of 55 — slower than the free-cutting leaded grades — and it is not reliably fusion weldable. Where higher strength and easier cutting are needed, C92900 is the nearest alternative. C92500 has a density of 8.8 g/cm³ (0.318 lb/in³), heavier than 58% of copper alloy grades. It melts at 831°C (1,528 °F). C92500 has a yield strength of 152 MPa (22 ksi) and a tensile strength of 303 MPa (43.9 ksi) — weaker than 67% of copper alloy grades. Elongation at break is 20% and the elastic modulus is 103 GPa (14.9 Msi).

Working with C92500
Is C92500 easy to machine?
Machines well with sharp positive-rake carbide or HSS tools at ~30 % of free-cutting brass; use light feeds and flood coolant, the phosphide phase is abrasive.
Can C92500 be welded?
Poor fusion weldability because of lead and hot-short tin-rich phase — repair by braze or by GTAW with matching phosphor-bronze filler, preheat 150–200 °C and peen.
Can C92500 be formed, bent or molded?
Cast-only alloy: use generous fillets, directional solidification and chills; not workable by cold forming.

How much does C92500 cost?
C92500 is a high-cost copper alloy ($$$$), pricier than about 78% of the materials FabDigit quotes. Part price depends far more on geometry, tolerance and quantity than on the raw stock — upload a CAD file for a live quote.
C92500 — frequently asked
What is C92500 used for?
C92500 is typically used for gears, bearings and pump components. In short: nickel-phosphorus tin bronze; pressure-tight gear bronze; cast-only wear alloy.
