What is CC750S?
CC750S (CuZn33Pb2-C) is a general-purpose leaded yellow brass casting alloy, with about 33 % zinc for castability and 2 % lead for free-cutting chip control. As-cast properties are around 90 MPa yield, 210 MPa tensile, 18 % elongation and 55 HB, with 26 % IACS electrical conductivity and a maximum service temperature of 200 °C, in sand (GS), gravity die (GM), centrifugal (GZ) and continuous (GC) cast forms. It is used for hardware and decorative castings rather than loaded pressure parts; the lead and zinc make fusion welding impractical and lead-restricted plumbing may exclude it. CC751S is the nearer choice when better fluidity and pressure tightness are needed. CC750S has a density of 8.5 g/cm³ (0.307 lb/in³), lighter than 65% of copper alloy grades. It melts at 900°C (1,652 °F). CC750S has a yield strength of 90 MPa (13.1 ksi) and a tensile strength of 210 MPa (30.5 ksi) — weaker than 88% of copper alloy grades. Elongation at break is 18% and the elastic modulus is 95 GPa (13.8 Msi).

Working with CC750S
Is CC750S easy to machine?
Free-cutting: high speeds with sharp zero/negative-rake carbide or HSS tools, light feeds, water-soluble coolant; chips break short thanks to the 2 % Pb, but extract lead-bearing dust.
Can CC750S be welded?
Not recommended for fusion welding — zinc fumes and lead-induced hot cracking; repair by brazing with low-temperature Ag or Cu-P filler, or mechanically join.
Can CC750S be formed, bent or molded?
Casting alloy with excellent fluidity and low shrinkage; use generous fillets, chill or feed heavy sections, degas the melt and cover with charcoal/flux to limit zinc loss; avoid cold forming of finished castings.

What surface finishes work on CC750S?
Buffs to bright brass, takes lacquer, chemical patina and Ni/Cr or brass electroplating; not anodisable, and porosity or lead smearing can pit a plated finish if not pre-cleaned.
