What is C92600?
C92600 is a general-purpose leaded tin bronze casting alloy in the C90000–C95999 family, with lead added for chip breaking and pressure-tightness. Default-condition properties are 138 MPa yield, 303 MPa tensile, 30 % elongation, 72 HB, 11.5 % IACS conductivity and a machinability rating of 70, which suits valve bodies, pump housings and general castings made by sand, permanent-mold, centrifugal, investment or continuous casting. Fusion welding is not recommended because of the lead, and maximum service temperature is 260 °C. C92500 is the nearest choice when higher strength and wear resistance are required. C92600 has a density of 8.8 g/cm³ (0.318 lb/in³), heavier than 58% of copper alloy grades. It melts at 854°C (1,569 °F). C92600 has a yield strength of 138 MPa (20 ksi) and a tensile strength of 303 MPa (43.9 ksi) — weaker than 76% of copper alloy grades. Elongation at break is 30% and the elastic modulus is 100 GPa (14.5 Msi).

Working with C92600
Is C92600 easy to machine?
Free machining for a tin bronze (≈70 % of C36000): use sharp positive-rake carbide or HSS, moderate speeds and soluble-oil coolant; chips break well thanks to the lead.
Can C92600 be welded?
Fusion welding is generally not recommended (lead causes hot cracking and porosity); repair by braze welding or silver brazing, soldering is excellent.
Can C92600 be formed, bent or molded?
A foundry alloy only — sand, permanent-mold, centrifugal, investment and continuous casting all work well; feed heavy sections to avoid tin inverse segregation and micro-shrinkage.
