What is C95820?
C95820 is a higher-nickel nickel-aluminum bronze casting alloy, a modification of standard nickel-aluminum bronze aimed at critical seawater valve and pump service. Poured as sand, continuous or centrifugal castings and available temper-annealed (TQ50), it provides 310 MPa yield, 670 MPa tensile, 20% elongation and 190 HB with a corrosion-resistance rating of 82. It is tough and gummy to cut (machinability rating 30), shows about 1.6% solidification shrinkage and needs oxide control in the melt; lower-nickel nickel-aluminum bronzes are the cheaper option where the extra corrosion margin is not needed. C95820 has a density of 7.58 g/cm³ (0.274 lb/in³), lighter than 94% of copper alloy grades. It melts at 1,040°C (1,904 °F). C95820 has a yield strength of 310 MPa (45 ksi) and a tensile strength of 670 MPa (97.2 ksi) — stronger than 64% of copper alloy grades. Elongation at break is 20% and the elastic modulus is 117 GPa (17 Msi).

Working with C95820
Is C95820 easy to machine?
Tough and gummy: use rigid setups, sharp carbide (K-grade) tooling, positive rake, 60–120 m/min, generous feed and flood coolant; avoid dwelling to prevent work hardening.
Can C95820 be welded?
Readily welded by GTAW/GMAW with ERCuNiAl-A2/A3 filler, preheat 150–200 °C for heavy sections, low heat input, no post-weld quench; 675 °C temper anneal recommended for critical seawater welds.
Can C95820 be formed, bent or molded?
Casting alloy only — high solidification shrinkage (~1.6 %) and oxide-prone melt; use bottom/tilt pouring with filters, generous risering and directional chilling to avoid gas and shrinkage porosity.

What surface finishes work on C95820?
Grit blast and pickle to remove alumina film; not anodisable. Can be polished, and normally left bare in seawater (naturally passivating); paint only with etch/epoxy primer, and isolate from stainless/nickel alloys to limit galvanic attack.
