What is CC495K?
CC495K (CuSn10Pb10-C, C93700, ZCuPb10Sn10) is a high-leaded tin bronze with nominally 10 % tin and 10 % lead, combining a tin-strengthened matrix with a large free lead phase for boundary-lubricated sliding. It is a standard bearing casting alloy at 140 MPa yield, 270 MPa tensile, 10 % elongation and 75 HB, with a machinability rating of 85, available as sand (GS), chill (GM), centrifugal (GZ) and continuous (GC) castings. The lead content rules out fusion welding and lead-restricted potable-water service; CC493K (C93200) is the usual alternative when higher ductility is needed. CC495K has a density of 8.9 g/cm³ (0.322 lb/in³), heavier than 77% of copper alloy grades. It melts at 762°C (1,404 °F). CC495K has a yield strength of 140 MPa (20.3 ksi) and a tensile strength of 270 MPa (39.2 ksi) — weaker than 74% of copper alloy grades. Elongation at break is 10% and the elastic modulus is 76 GPa (11 Msi).

Working with CC495K
Is CC495K easy to machine?
Excellent free-machining behaviour (≈80 % of free-cutting brass): use sharp positive-rake tools, high speed, light feed and flood coolant; chips break short thanks to the lead phase.
Can CC495K be welded?
Effectively unweldable by fusion because of 10 % lead (hot cracking, lead fume); repair by soft soldering or mechanical means, and use fume extraction on any hot work.
Can CC495K be formed, bent or molded?
Cast-only alloy with excellent fluidity and feeding — sand, chill, centrifugal and continuous casting all standard; avoid cold forming, and control cooling to prevent lead segregation in thick sections.

What surface finishes work on CC495K?
Takes a fine turned or bored bearing surface directly; polishing is limited by lead smear, and tin/lead or electroless-nickel plating is possible with careful pre-cleaning (no anodizing).

CC495K — frequently asked
What is CC495K used for?
CC495K is typically used for plain bearings, bushings, thrust washers, gear shift components and medium-duty bearing castings. In short: classic 10-10 bearing bronze; good load with self-lubrication; machines near free-cutting brass.
What is the yield strength of CC495K?
CC495K has a typical yield strength of 140 MPa (20.3 ksi) and a tensile strength of 270 MPa (39.2 ksi) — weaker than 74% of copper alloy grades. Strength varies by condition: see the 4 listed tempers.
