What is C93600?
C93600 is a high-leaded tin bronze bearing alloy (about 80Cu-7Sn-12Pb) in which free lead particles dispersed through the copper-tin matrix act as a solid lubricant and embed abrasive debris. It is cast to ASTM B584 in sand, permanent-mould, centrifugal and continuous forms for sleeve bearings, bushings and pump liners under moderate load and boundary or marginal lubrication, where it machines easily, runs in quickly and resists seizure. Strength and hardness are low (110 MPa yield, 207 MPa tensile, 60 HB), it is effectively unweldable, and it is unsuited to high impact or elevated temperature; lead content is also restricted under potable-water and some environmental rules. C93200 is the nearest lower-lead bearing bronze. C93600 has a density of 8.94 g/cm³ (0.323 lb/in³), heavier than 90% of copper alloy grades. It melts at 762°C (1,404 °F). C93600 has a yield strength of 110 MPa (16 ksi) and a tensile strength of 207 MPa (30 ksi) — weaker than 82% of copper alloy grades. Elongation at break is 15% and the elastic modulus is 76 GPa (11 Msi).

Working with C93600
Is C93600 easy to machine?
Excellent free-machining behaviour (≈80% of AISI 1212): use sharp positive-rake tools, light feeds and generous coolant; lead smearing can dull surface finish on final bores.
Can C93600 be welded?
Essentially unweldable — lead causes severe hot cracking and porosity; join by mechanical fit, soft soldering or shrink/press fitting instead.
Can C93600 be formed, bent or molded?
Casting alloy only (sand, permanent-mould, centrifugal, continuous); pour ~1090–1150 °C with good degassing and chills to avoid lead segregation and gravity settling in thick walls.
Manufacturability
The process limits FabDigit applies to C93600. Every C93600 part is priced by an engineer; design inside these and the quote comes back without a redesign loop.

What surface finishes work on C93600?
Not anodizable; leave as-machined, or tin/nickel plate, chemically blacken, or lap/burnish bearing bores — avoid abrasive polishing that smears the lead phase.
