Working with C93700

Is C93700 easy to machine?

Free-machining with the lead phase acting as a chip breaker (≈80% of AISI 1212); use sharp positive-rake tools, high speed, light feed and flood coolant, and control lead dust/fume.

Can C93700 be welded?

Fusion welding is not recommended — lead causes hot cracking and porosity; join by soft soldering, mechanical press-fit or adhesive, and braze only with low-temperature filler when unavoidable.

Can C93700 be formed, bent or molded?

A casting alloy only: excellent fluidity for sand, permanent-mold, centrifugal and continuous casting; feed risers well as the long freezing range (762–930 °C) promotes interdendritic shrinkage. No cold forming.
