What is CC380H?
CC380H is the European cast 90-10 copper-nickel (CuNi10Fe1Mn1-C, equivalent to C96200), with iron and manganese additions for erosion-corrosion resistance in seawater. It is produced as sand (GS), die (GM), centrifugal (GZ) and continuous (GC) castings, and in a stress-relieved GS-SR condition, for valve bodies, pump casings and flanges, with 140 MPa yield, 300 MPa tensile, 25 % elongation and 80 HB. Service is limited to 300 °C, electrical conductivity is only 10 % IACS, and machinability is about 20 % of free-cutting brass; CC381H (70-30) is the step up where higher strength or flow velocity is required. CC380H has a density of 8.9 g/cm³ (0.322 lb/in³), heavier than 77% of copper alloy grades. It melts at 1,100°C (2,012 °F). CC380H has a yield strength of 140 MPa (20.3 ksi) and a tensile strength of 300 MPa (43.5 ksi) — weaker than 74% of copper alloy grades. Elongation at break is 25% and the elastic modulus is 124 GPa (18 Msi).

Working with CC380H
Is CC380H easy to machine?
Gummy and work-hardening — use sharp positive-rake carbide, low speed with heavy feed, ample coolant and rigid setups; rating ≈20 % of free-cutting brass.
Can CC380H be welded?
Readily GTAW/GMAW welded with CuNi 70/30 (ERCuNi) filler; keep interpass low, no preheat needed, avoid lead/sulphur contamination and back-purge for root passes.
Can CC380H be formed, bent or molded?
Cast only — needs good gating/risering, Mn-Si deoxidation and controlled pour temperature (~1250 °C) to avoid gas porosity and shrinkage.
