Solution heat treated and overaged (stabilized) | Use where dimensional stability at elevated temperature and reduced residual stress matter more than peak strength. | 130 | 200 | 5 | 65 HB | 42 % IACS |

What is 295.0?
295.0 (UNS A02950, C4A) is an Al-Cu-Si sand-casting alloy in the ANSI/AA 2xx.x family, heat treatable to T4, T6, T62 and T7 or used as-cast (F). Engineers pick it for general engineering castings that need a workable balance of strength and machinability: 165 MPa yield, 250 MPa tensile, 5% elongation, 75 HB, 151 W/m·K thermal conductivity and 37% IACS. Fusion weldability is poor, corrosion resistance is only moderate (score 42), and service is limited to about 150 °C. For permanent-mold work requiring pressure tightness, 296.0 is the closer relative. 295.0 has a density of 2.81 g/cm³ (0.102 lb/in³), heavier than 86% of aluminum grades. It melts at 521°C (970 °F). 295.0 has a yield strength of 165 MPa (23.9 ksi) and a tensile strength of 250 MPa (36.3 ksi) — weaker than 58% of aluminum grades. Elongation at break is 5% and the elastic modulus is 70 GPa (10.2 Msi).

Working with 295.0
Is 295.0 easy to machine?
Machines very freely with sharp carbide/PCD tooling, high speeds and flood coolant; T62 gives the cleanest, chip-free finish, T4 tends to be gummier.
Can 295.0 be welded?
Poor fusion weldability — the Al-Cu composition is hot-crack prone; repair by GTAW with 4043/2319 filler only with preheat, and re-solution-treat and age if properties must be restored.
Can 295.0 be formed, bent or molded?
Sand (and plaster/permanent-mold) casting only; wide freezing range demands generous risering, directional solidification and clean degassed melt to avoid shrinkage porosity and hot tears.
