| Condition · open for datasheet | Best for | Yield MPa | Tensile MPa | Elong. % | Hardness | Conductivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
As fabricated | Pick when the part is dimensionally critical or gas-porous (die cast) and moderate strength is enough — no solution-treatment blistering or distortion risk. | 95 | 180 | 3 | 60 HB | 39 % IACS |
Cooled from hot working and artificially aged | Low-distortion compromise for die castings: some Mg2Si strengthening and dimensional stabilisation without a full solution soak and quench. | 150 | 210 | 2.5 | 72 HB | 39 % IACS |
Solution heat treated and under-aged | Choose when crash ductility, energy absorption or self-piercing riveting/joining of the casting is required — trades ~15 % strength for roughly 50 % more elongation than T6. | 180 | 250 | 6 | 80 HB | 42 % IACS |

What is EN AC-43300?
EN AC-43300 (AlSi9Mg) is a heat-treatable Al-Si-Mg casting alloy, close to A360.0, chosen when strength, ductility and pressure tightness must be balanced. In the default heat-treated condition it reaches 290 MPa tensile, 210 MPa yield, 4 % elongation and 90 HB, with 73 GPa modulus and 150 W/m·K, and it is cast by permanent-mould, low-pressure and high-vacuum die casting for chassis and powertrain parts. Service is limited to about 150 °C, gas content must be kept low if the casting is to be solution treated, and anodized films are grey. EN AC-43500 (AlSi10MnMg) gives higher as-cast elongation. EN AC-43300 has a density of 2.65 g/cm³ (0.0957 lb/in³), lighter than 90% of aluminum grades. It melts at 557°C (1,035 °F). EN AC-43300 has a yield strength of 210 MPa (30.5 ksi) and a tensile strength of 290 MPa (42.1 ksi) — stronger than 56% of aluminum grades. Elongation at break is 4% and the elastic modulus is 73 GPa (10.6 Msi).

Working with EN AC-43300
Is EN AC-43300 easy to machine?
Machines freely with sharp positive-rake PCD or polished carbide and flood coolant; eutectic silicon abrades HSS quickly, so use high speed, high feed and avoid built-up edge.
Can EN AC-43300 be welded?
Good TIG/MIG weldability with 4043 or 4047 filler; re-age or locally re-heat-treat after welding since the weld HAZ loses T6 strength, and outgassing porosity is a risk on die castings.
Can EN AC-43300 be formed, bent or molded?
Excellent fluidity and low hot-tearing tendency for thin-wall permanent-mould, low-pressure and high-vacuum die casting; keep gas content low (degassing, vacuum) if the part must be solution treated to avoid blistering.

What surface finishes work on EN AC-43300?
Takes protective/hard anodizing, chromate-free conversion coats, e-coat and powder paint well; bright decorative anodize is mottled grey due to Si, and polishing leaves a slightly grey lustre.
