| Condition · open for datasheet | Best for | Yield MPa | Tensile MPa | Elong. % | Hardness | Conductivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
FDefault As fabricated | Default supply condition: use when dimensional stability and cost matter more than strength; die-cast sections reach the upper end of the range. | 110 | 200 | 2.5 | 60 HB | 39 % IACS |
Solution heat treated and under-aged | Under-aged compromise: about 85 % of T6 strength with roughly double the elongation and better impact tolerance, favoured for safety-relevant chassis and bracket castings. | 185 | 225 | 4 | 80 HB | 42 % IACS |
Solution heat treated and artificially aged | Pick for maximum strength and hardness in structural castings where 1–2 % elongation is acceptable; not applicable to conventional high-pressure die castings (blister risk). | 230 | 290 | 2 | 95 HB | 40 % IACS |
What is EN AC-43100?
EN AC-43100 (AlSi10Mg(b)) is a near-eutectic Al-Si-Mg casting alloy with tighter impurity limits than the (a) grade, which improves ductility and pressure tightness; it is close to A360.0. Typical as-cast values are 200 MPa tensile, 110 MPa yield, 2.5 % elongation and 60 HB, with 150 W/m·K thermal conductivity, supplied as sand, permanent-mould, low-pressure and die castings in F, T6 and T64. Service is limited to about 150 °C, conventional die castings should not be solution treated because of blistering, and decorative anodizing turns dull grey. EN AC-43500 (AlSi10MnMg) is the choice when higher elongation is required. EN AC-43100 has a density of 2.66 g/cm³ (0.0961 lb/in³), lighter than 84% of aluminum grades. It melts at 557°C (1,035 °F). EN AC-43100 has a yield strength of 110 MPa (16 ksi) and a tensile strength of 200 MPa (29 ksi) — weaker than 81% of aluminum grades. Elongation at break is 2.5% and the elastic modulus is 71 GPa (10.3 Msi).

Working with EN AC-43100
Is EN AC-43100 easy to machine?
Machines freely with sharp carbide or PCD tooling and high speeds, but eutectic silicon abrades HSS quickly; watch for porosity breakout in as-cast skin.
Can EN AC-43100 be welded?
TIG/MIG weldable with AlSi5 (4043) or AlSi12 filler; degas and localise heat, and re-solution/age if T6 properties are required across the joint.
Can EN AC-43100 be formed, bent or molded?
Excellent fluidity and pressure tightness for sand, permanent-mould, low-pressure and die casting; not intended for cold forming, and conventional die castings should not be solution treated because of blistering.
