+NDefault Normalized | Standard delivery condition for EN 10216-2/10217-2 P195GH boiler tube and pressure plate; fine ferrite-pearlite, best toughness/weld response. | 230 | 380 | 30 | 110 HB | — |
Hot rolled | Hot-finished tube or plate accepted as-rolled where the code allows; slightly coarser structure and more property scatter than +N. | 235 | 390 | 28 | 115 HB | 10.5 % IACS |
Cold drawn, lightly cold-worked after final heat treatment | Precision cold-drawn tube with a light finishing pass after normalizing — good dimensional accuracy while retaining bendability. | 270 | 400 | 22 | 125 HB | 10.3 % IACS |
Cold drawn | Cold-drawn precision tube used where tight tolerance and higher strength matter more than ductility; not normally code-accepted for pressure service without +N. | 370 | 460 | 12 | 150 HB | 10.2 % IACS |

What is P195GH?
P195GH (1.0348, also cross-referenced to 20R and A515 Gr.55) is a low-carbon non-alloy pressure vessel and boiler steel for plate and tube in moderate-temperature service, supplied +N, +AR, +A, +C, +LC and as normalized plate. Engineers use it where weldability and formability matter more than strength: 230 MPa yield, 380 MPa tensile, 30 % elongation, 110 HB and service to 400 °C. It has no corrosion resistance of its own and machines gummily; step up to P245GH when a higher code allowable stress is required. P195GH has a density of 7.85 g/cm³ (0.284 lb/in³), heavier than 56% of steel grades. It melts at 1,470°C (2,678 °F). P195GH has a yield strength of 230 MPa (33.4 ksi) and a tensile strength of 380 MPa (55.1 ksi) — weaker than 97% of steel grades. Elongation at break is 30% and the elastic modulus is 212 GPa (30.7 Msi).

Working with P195GH
Is P195GH easy to machine?
Soft and gummy — use sharp positive-rake tools, high speed with generous coolant and chip breakers to avoid built-up edge; consider a free-cutting grade if heavy turning volume is expected.
Can P195GH be welded?
Excellent weldability by TIG/MMA/SAW with matching low-C consumables (ER70S-2/E7018); CEV ≈0.30 means no preheat for thin walls, PWHT only per pressure code thickness rules.
Can P195GH be formed, bent or molded?
Very good cold bending, expanding and flanging; tube bend radii down to ~2.5 D are routine, and heavy cold work should be followed by normalizing for code service.
