What is G10MnMoV6-3?
G10MnMoV6-3 (1.5410) is a low-alloy manganese-molybdenum-vanadium cast steel for pressure-retaining parts that need elevated-temperature strength. In the default quenched-and-tempered condition it provides 540 MPa yield, 690 MPa tensile, 18% elongation and 205 HB (16 HRC) with service to 400 °C, and is supplied as sand or investment castings for valve bodies and pump casings. At about 0.10 %C (CE ≈ 0.45) weldability is good (score 72) and machinability moderate (55), but it has no inherent corrosion resistance and must be coated. For higher strength in the same casting route, use GS-42CrMo4. G10MnMoV6-3 has a density of 7.85 g/cm³ (0.284 lb/in³), heavier than 56% of steel grades. It melts at 1,420°C (2,588 °F). G10MnMoV6-3 has a yield strength of 540 MPa (78.3 ksi) and a tensile strength of 690 MPa (100 ksi) — stronger than 70% of steel grades. Elongation at break is 18% and the elastic modulus is 210 GPa (30.5 Msi).

Working with G10MnMoV6-3
Is G10MnMoV6-3 easy to machine?
Machines like Q&T 4130-class steel — carbide inserts, moderate speeds, rigid setup; expect abrasive skin and sand inclusions on unblasted cast surfaces.
Can G10MnMoV6-3 be welded?
Good weldability at ~0.10 %C (CE ≈ 0.45): low-hydrogen electrodes, preheat 100–200 °C for heavy sections and post-weld tempering/PWHT for pressure parts.
Can G10MnMoV6-3 be formed, bent or molded?
Supplied as sand/investment castings; design generous fillets and directional solidification, feed heavy sections with risers to avoid shrinkage porosity.
