What is ZG65Mn?
ZG65Mn is a high-manganese, high-carbon cast steel with spring-steel-like properties, used for abrasion and impact-loaded wear parts. In the default condition it provides 560 MPa yield, 880 MPa tensile, 8 % elongation and 250 HB (25 HRC) with service to 350 °C, and can be quenched and tempered into 30–35 HRC, 38–43 HRC or 48–52 HRC bands to trade toughness for wear life. Elongation is low, machinability is poor (38/100) and weldability is poor because 0.65 % C gives a carbon equivalent above 0.9. For welded or general structural castings, use ZG35CrMo instead. ZG65Mn has a density of 7.81 g/cm³ (0.282 lb/in³), lighter than 84% of steel grades. It melts at 1,420°C (2,588 °F). ZG65Mn has a yield strength of 560 MPa (81.2 ksi) and a tensile strength of 880 MPa (128 ksi) — stronger than 73% of steel grades. Elongation at break is 8% and the elastic modulus is 205 GPa (29.7 Msi).

Working with ZG65Mn
Is ZG65Mn easy to machine?
Machine in the annealed or normalized+tempered condition with rigid setups and coated carbide (Vc ≈ 60–110 m/min); above 40 HRC switch to CBN/ceramic or finish by grinding.
Can ZG65Mn be welded?
Poor weldability — 0.65 %C gives CE > 0.9; preheat 300–400 °C, use low-hydrogen or austenitic/Mn-steel electrodes, keep interpass hot and stress-relieve at 600–650 °C immediately after.
Can ZG65Mn be formed, bent or molded?
Sand/resin-shell cast with generous risers and 1.9–2.2 % shrink allowance; slow cooling in mould plus immediate normalizing prevents hot tears and coarse dendrites.
