What is A352 LCC?

ASTM A352 LCC (UNS J02505) is an impact-tested cast carbon steel for low-temperature pressure-containing service, supplied normalized and tempered or quenched and tempered, and sitting the third strength tier above LCB. Default properties are 315 MPa yield, 525 MPa tensile, 26 % elongation, 155 HB and service to 425 °C, with Charpy qualification at −46 °C. Engineers specify it for cast valve and pump shapes that ambient-grade carbon steel cannot cover in cold service. It has no inherent corrosion resistance and must be coated; A216 WCB is the cheaper choice for ordinary temperatures. A352 LCC has a density of 7.85 g/cm³ (0.284 lb/in³), heavier than 56% of steel grades. It melts at 1,425°C (2,597 °F). A352 LCC has a yield strength of 315 MPa (45.7 ksi) and a tensile strength of 525 MPa (76.1 ksi) — weaker than 82% of steel grades. Elongation at break is 26% and the elastic modulus is 202 GPa (29.3 Msi).
