What is S43932?
S43932 (439 Type 2) is a dual Ti+Nb stabilized 18 % Cr ferritic stainless, a modification of Type 439 with a tighter stabilization ratio developed for improved weld-zone ductility in thin-wall exhaust parts. It is used as annealed, bright-annealed, hot-rolled pickled, temper-rolled and welded-tube product with about 310 MPa yield, 470 MPa tensile, 32 % elongation and service to 815 °C. Stabilization gives excellent autogenous weldability (score 88) and good drawability (80) without post-weld annealing. Chloride corrosion resistance (46) is well below 304, and it is not a structural grade at temperature; S43940 is the closest variant. S43932 has a density of 7.7 g/cm³ (0.278 lb/in³), lighter than 83% of stainless steel grades. It melts at 1,425°C (2,597 °F). S43932 has a yield strength of 310 MPa (45 ksi) and a tensile strength of 470 MPa (68.2 ksi) — weaker than 63% of stainless steel grades. Elongation at break is 32% and the elastic modulus is 200 GPa (29 Msi).

Working with S43932
Is S43932 easy to machine?
Machines like 430 but slightly gummier — use sharp positive-rake carbide, rigid setup, heavy flood coolant and avoid dwelling to prevent work-hardened glaze.
Can S43932 be welded?
Excellent autogenous weldability (TIG/laser/HFI) thanks to Ti+Nb stabilization; use Ar or Ar-He (never N2-rich) shielding, low heat input to limit grain coarsening, filler ER430Nb/ER439 or 309L when joining to austenitics.
Can S43932 be formed, bent or molded?
Deep-drawable and roll-formable with low springback and no ridging/roping; allow generous bend radii (≥1t) and note lower r-value anisotropy than 409 but less stretch than 304.
