What is 08Cr17Ti?
08Cr17Ti is the Russian/CIS titanium-stabilized 17 % chromium ferritic stainless, essentially equivalent to Western 439 / 430Ti. Titanium ties up carbon so welds resist sensitization and intergranular corrosion, which makes it a low-cost, low-nickel substitute for 304 in trim, exhaust and appliance sheet; it is available annealed, HRAP-1D, 2B, BA, 1/4H, 1/2H, cold-drawn and stress-relieved. Annealed values are about 300 MPa yield, 480 MPa tensile, 30 % elongation and 160 HB (82 HRB), with service to 815 °C and a weldability score of 80. Formability (75) and toughness are below austenitics; move to Mo-bearing 436L where more chloride pitting resistance is required. 08Cr17Ti has a density of 7.7 g/cm³ (0.278 lb/in³), lighter than 83% of stainless steel grades. It melts at 1,425°C (2,597 °F). 08Cr17Ti has a yield strength of 300 MPa (43.5 ksi) and a tensile strength of 480 MPa (69.6 ksi) — weaker than 68% of stainless steel grades. Elongation at break is 30% and the elastic modulus is 200 GPa (29 Msi).

Working with 08Cr17Ti
Is 08Cr17Ti easy to machine?
Machines like 430 but gummier: sharp tools, rigid setup, positive rake, 20–25% lower speed than carbon steel, generous coolant to avoid built-up edge.
Can 08Cr17Ti be welded?
Excellent weldability for a ferritic — Ti stabilization avoids sensitization; use low heat input, 409/430Ti or austenitic 309L filler, no preheat for thin gauge, avoid grain coarsening above ~950 °C.
Can 08Cr17Ti be formed, bent or molded?
Good deep drawing and roll forming with r-value near 1.4; watch for ridging/roping on drawn panels and use larger bend radii than for 304.
