S275JR-CR has a yield strength of 380 MPa (55.1 ksi) and a tensile strength of 500 MPa (72.5 ksi) — weaker than 67% of steel grades. Elongation at break is 14% and the elastic modulus is 210 GPa (30.5 Msi). S275JR-CR has a density of 7.85 g/cm³ (0.284 lb/in³), heavier than 56% of steel grades. It melts at 1,425°C (2,597 °F). Can S275JR be welded?
Weldable by all common processes (SMAW/GMAW/SAW/FCAW) with E7018 or ER70S-6 class consumables; preheat normally unnecessary below ~30 mm, keep hydrogen low on thick restrained joints.
Can S275JR be formed, bent or molded?
Good cold bending and roll forming; typical inside bend radius 1–2 t for hot-rolled plate, hot work at 900–1200 °C, avoid forming in the 250–400 °C blue-brittle range.
