Compare all 5 conditionsHide
| Condition · open for datasheet | Best for | Yield MPa | Tensile MPa | Elong. % | Hardness | Conductivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Annealed last (not skin-passed), maximum softness | Ordered when the very lowest yield and no roughness imprint are needed; must be formed promptly and can show slight stretcher-strain risk on non-IF grades (IF chemistry makes DC06 essentially non-aging). | 130 | 285 | 45 | 82 HB | 13 % IACS |
CRDefault Cold rolled | Standard stock condition: continuous-annealed and skin-passed coil/sheet, non-aging for 6 months, for general deep-drawn body and appliance panels. | 150 | 300 | 42 | 88 HB | 13 % IACS |
Surface quality B, matt finish | Pick for class-A painted exterior panels where surface defects are not permitted on one side and Ra ≈ 0.6–1.9 µm matt texture aids press lubrication and paint appearance. | 150 | 300 | 42 | 88 HB | 13 % IACS |
Hot-dip galvanized extra-deep-drawing sheet | Ordered when heavier zinc (Z100–Z275) corrosion protection is required; zinc layer slightly raises friction and reduces the achievable draw ratio versus bare DC06. | 150 | 300 | 41 | 88 HB | 13 % IACS |
Electrolytically zinc coated (EN 10152), e.g. ZE25/25 | Choose for painted automotive body panels needing corrosion protection with the smoothest coated surface; thin zinc layer keeps deep-drawing behaviour almost unchanged. | 155 | 305 | 41 | 90 HB | 13 % IACS |
What is DC06?
DC06 (1.0873) is an interstitial-free, extra-deep-drawing cold-rolled low-carbon steel to the EN 10130 DC family, stabilised and held to ultra-low carbon, phosphorus and sulphur so it stays non-aging. Engineers specify it when a stamping needs the most severe draws in one tool: r₉₀ ≥ 1.8, n₉₀ ≥ 0.22, 42 % elongation and formability that leads the DC series; supplied as cold-rolled coil, sheet and blanks, bare (CR) or zinc coated (+ZE, +Z). Limits are strength and corrosion: 150 MPa yield gives low dent resistance and load capacity, and bare sheet rusts quickly without paint or zinc. Where draw severity is lower, DC04/SPCD costs less. DC06 has a density of 7.85 g/cm³ (0.284 lb/in³), heavier than 56% of steel grades. It melts at 1,500°C (2,732 °F). DC06 has a yield strength of 150 MPa (21.8 ksi) and a tensile strength of 300 MPa (43.5 ksi) — weaker than 100% of steel grades. Elongation at break is 42% and the elastic modulus is 210 GPa (30.5 Msi).

Working with DC06
Is DC06 easy to machine?
Very soft and gummy — use sharp positive-rake tools, high speed and flood coolant to avoid burrs and built-up edge; blanking and laser cutting are preferred over milling.
Can DC06 be welded?
Excellent for resistance spot, MAG and laser welding thanks to ultra-low C, P, S; zinc-coated variants need higher electrode force/current and fume extraction.
Can DC06 be formed, bent or molded?
Best-in-class deep drawing (r₉₀ ≥ 1.8, n₉₀ ≥ 0.22, non-aging) — multi-stage draws, hemming and stretch forming succeed without intermediate annealing; watch low dent resistance and springback-free but low-strength parts.

What surface finishes work on DC06?
Takes phosphating, e-coat and powder paint readily; bare sheet must be oiled or coated immediately as it rusts fast; electro- or hot-dip zinc plus e-coat is the standard automotive system.
