Surface quality B, matt finish | Pick for class-A painted exterior panels where surface defects are not permitted on one side and Ra ≈ 0.6–1.9 µm matt texture aids press lubrication and paint appearance. | 150 | 300 | 42 | 88 HB | 13 % IACS |
Hot-dip galvanized extra-deep-drawing sheet | Ordered when heavier zinc (Z100–Z275) corrosion protection is required; zinc layer slightly raises friction and reduces the achievable draw ratio versus bare DC06. | 150 | 300 | 41 | 88 HB | 13 % IACS |
Electrolytically zinc coated (EN 10152), e.g. ZE25/25 | Choose for painted automotive body panels needing corrosion protection with the smoothest coated surface; thin zinc layer keeps deep-drawing behaviour almost unchanged. | 155 | 305 | 41 | 90 HB | 13 % IACS |

Working with DC06-LC
Is DC06 easy to machine?
Very soft and gummy — use sharp positive-rake tools, high speed and flood coolant to avoid burrs and built-up edge; blanking and laser cutting are preferred over milling.
Can DC06 be welded?
Excellent for resistance spot, MAG and laser welding thanks to ultra-low C, P, S; zinc-coated variants need higher electrode force/current and fume extraction.
Can DC06 be formed, bent or molded?
Best-in-class deep drawing (r₉₀ ≥ 1.8, n₉₀ ≥ 0.22, non-aging) — multi-stage draws, hemming and stretch forming succeed without intermediate annealing; watch low dent resistance and springback-free but low-strength parts.
What surface finishes work on DC06?
Takes phosphating, e-coat and powder paint readily; bare sheet must be oiled or coated immediately as it rusts fast; electro- or hot-dip zinc plus e-coat is the standard automotive system.

DC06-LC — frequently asked
What is DC06-LC used for?
DC06-LC is typically used for automotive body panels, complex stampings and appliance shells. In short: highest-formability DC grade; non-aging IF steel; class-A panel surface.
What is the yield strength of DC06-LC?
DC06-LC has a typical yield strength of 130 MPa (18.9 ksi) and a tensile strength of 285 MPa (41.3 ksi) — weaker than 100% of steel grades. Strength varies by condition: see the 5 listed tempers.
Is DC06-LC easy to machine?
Not especially — machinability is rated fair (40/100, worse than 77% of steel grades). Very soft and gummy — use sharp positive-rake tools, high speed and flood coolant to avoid burrs and built-up edge; blanking and laser cutting are preferred over milling.
Can DC06-LC be welded?
Yes — weldability is rated excellent (96/100). Excellent for resistance spot, MAG and laser welding thanks to ultra-low C, P, S; zinc-coated variants need higher electrode force/current and fume extraction.
What surface finishes work on DC06-LC?
