What is E100C-K3?
E100C-K3 is a Ni-Cr-Mo alloyed composite (metal-cored/flux-cored) electrode that deposits approximately 100 ksi tensile weld metal: 745 MPa tensile, 660 MPa yield, 20 % elongation and about 235 HB (22 HRC) as welded, with service to 400 °C. It is used to weld quenched-and-tempered high-strength structural and offshore steels where matching strength is required, and is supplied as spooled tubular wire for gas-shielded semi-automatic and mechanised welding. Low-hydrogen handling, preheat and interpass control are mandatory to avoid delayed cracking; the deposit has mild-steel corrosion behaviour and needs coating. Step up to E110C-K3 for higher-strength base metals. E100C-K3 has a density of 7.8 g/cm³ (0.282 lb/in³), lighter than 87% of steel grades. It melts at 1,450°C (2,642 °F). E100C-K3 has a yield strength of 660 MPa (95.7 ksi) and a tensile strength of 745 MPa (108 ksi) — stronger than 80% of steel grades. Elongation at break is 20% and the elastic modulus is 205 GPa (29.7 Msi).

Working with E100C-K3
Is E100C-K3 easy to machine?
As-deposited weld metal machines like a 700 MPa Q&T alloy steel — carbide tooling, moderate speeds; grind or mill after PWHT for best tool life.
Can E100C-K3 be welded?
Gas-shielded (75-80%Ar/bal CO₂ or 100% CO₂ per classification), DCEP; preheat and interpass control per steel thickness/CE and low-hydrogen practice are mandatory to avoid delayed cracking.
Can E100C-K3 be formed, bent or molded?
Not applicable as a wrought product; joint design should limit restraint and allow multipass bead sequencing to control distortion in high-strength plate.
