What is ERTi-7?
ERTi-7 is palladium-alloyed commercially pure titanium filler, UNS R52400, matching Grade 7 base metal for welds that must resist crevice corrosion in reducing acids. It is supplied as annealed spooled wire and cut lengths, with typical deposit values of 330 MPa yield, 420 MPa tensile, 24% elongation and 155 HB, a weldability score of 92 and a corrosion resistance score of 95. Strength is the lowest of the CP fillers and service is limited to about 315 °C; the palladium content makes it the most expensive option, so ERTi-12 is the usual substitute when crevice resistance requirements are less severe. ERTi-7 has a density of 4.51 g/cm³ (0.163 lb/in³), heavier than 57% of titanium grades. It melts at 1,660°C (3,020 °F). ERTi-7 has a yield strength of 330 MPa (47.9 ksi) and a tensile strength of 420 MPa (60.9 ksi) — weaker than 83% of titanium grades. Elongation at break is 24% and the elastic modulus is 103 GPa (14.9 Msi).

Working with ERTi-7
Is ERTi-7 easy to machine?
Rarely machined as a product, but the deposit machines like CP titanium: low speeds, high feed, sharp uncoated or AlTiN carbide, flood coolant, never dwell (work-hardens and galls).
Can ERTi-7 be welded?
GTAW/GMAW/plasma/laser with high-purity argon or helium, trailing shield and back purge; keep interpass below ~150 °C, target silver/straw weld colour and reject blue/grey oxidised beads.
Can ERTi-7 be formed, bent or molded?
Supplied as drawn and annealed wire; coils and feeds well, but keep it grease-free — any hydrocarbon or moisture picked up during handling becomes weld porosity or hydrogen embrittlement.

What surface finishes work on ERTi-7?
Grind or pickle (HNO3-HF) the weld to remove alpha case before service; welds anodize and colour-match Grade 7 base metal, and no plating is needed for corrosion protection.
