What is ERTi-2?
ERTi-2 is unalloyed (commercially pure) titanium welding filler, UNS R50120, matching CP Ti Grade 2 base metal in strength and corrosion resistance. It is the standard consumable for general titanium fabrication, supplied as spooled wire and cut lengths and reported in as-welded, stress-relieved and annealed conditions, with typical deposit values of 380 MPa yield, 480 MPa tensile, 22% elongation and 155 HB (80 HRB). Deposits are limited to about 315 °C service and cannot match the strength of alloyed base metals; use ERTi-3 when a stronger CP deposit is needed or ERTi-7 for reducing-acid crevice corrosion. ERTi-2 has a density of 4.51 g/cm³ (0.163 lb/in³), heavier than 57% of titanium grades. It melts at 1,660°C (3,020 °F). ERTi-2 has a yield strength of 380 MPa (55.1 ksi) and a tensile strength of 480 MPa (69.6 ksi) — weaker than 73% of titanium grades. Elongation at break is 22% and the elastic modulus is 105 GPa (15.2 Msi).

Working with ERTi-2
Is ERTi-2 easy to machine?
Weld metal machines like CP Ti Gr.2 — slow speed, high feed, sharp carbide tools, flood coolant, never dwell (galling and fire risk with fine chips).
Can ERTi-2 be welded?
GTAW/GMAW/PAW with 99.99 % argon or Ar-He, trailing shield and full back purge; keep interpass <150 °C and joints surgically clean — straw/blue tint is acceptable, grey/white powder means scrap and rework.
Can ERTi-2 be formed, bent or molded?
Deposited metal is ductile enough for cold bending at generous radii (≥3–4 t); hot forming 600–750 °C in the annealed condition to avoid springback.
