What is ERTi-12?
ERTi-12 is Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni filler wire, UNS R53400, matching Grade 12 base metal and giving better crevice-corrosion resistance and higher strength than CP fillers without palladium. It is supplied as spooled and cut wire, reported as-welded, stress-relieved and as wire, with typical deposit values of 460 MPa yield, 560 MPa tensile, 20% elongation, 195 HB (93 HRB) and a corrosion resistance score of 90. Service is limited to about 315 °C and resistance in strongly reducing acids is below that of ERTi-7, which remains the choice when crevice attack governs. ERTi-12 has a density of 4.51 g/cm³ (0.163 lb/in³), heavier than 57% of titanium grades. It melts at 1,650°C (3,002 °F). ERTi-12 has a yield strength of 460 MPa (66.7 ksi) and a tensile strength of 560 MPa (81.2 ksi) — weaker than 62% of titanium grades. Elongation at break is 20% and the elastic modulus is 103 GPa (14.9 Msi).

Working with ERTi-12
Is ERTi-12 easy to machine?
Rarely machined as a consumable; if the deposit is machined use low surface speed, rigid setup, sharp uncoated or AlTiN carbide and flood coolant to avoid galling and ignition of fines.
Can ERTi-12 be welded?
GTAW/GMAW/PAW with 99.995 % argon or Ar-He, trailing shield and full back-purge; keep interpass below ~150 °C, wipe wire with acetone and reject any weld showing straw/blue-plus discolouration.
Can ERTi-12 be formed, bent or molded?
Weldments form like Grade 12 sheet — bend at ≥3–4 t radius cold, or warm-form at 200–300 °C; springback is high and stress relief after forming is recommended.

ERTi-12 — frequently asked
What is ERTi-12 used for?
ERTi-12 is typically used for welding Grade 12 heat exchangers, seawater and brine handling equipment, marine piping systems and cost-effective alternative to Pd-alloyed welds. In short: lower-cost corrosion filler; stronger than CP fillers; alternative to ERTi-7.
What is the yield strength of ERTi-12?
ERTi-12 has a typical yield strength of 460 MPa (66.7 ksi) and a tensile strength of 560 MPa (81.2 ksi) — weaker than 62% of titanium grades. Strength varies by condition: see the 2 listed tempers.
Is ERTi-12 easy to machine?
Not especially — machinability is rated poor (25/100, better than 53% of titanium grades). Rarely machined as a consumable; if the deposit is machined use low surface speed, rigid setup, sharp uncoated or AlTiN carbide and flood coolant to avoid galling and ignition of fines.
Can ERTi-12 be welded?
