What is Grade Ti-Pd16?
Grade Ti-Pd16 is a low-palladium cast titanium grade under ASTM B367, matching wrought Grade 16 composition and giving corrosion behaviour close to the higher-palladium C-8 series at lower alloy cost. It is poured as investment or rammed-graphite castings for seawater and chemical-plant fittings, with 380 MPa yield, 450 MPa tensile, 11 % elongation and 180 HB. Service is limited to about 300 °C, elongation is lower than Ti-Pd7B, and thin sections below 3 mm fill poorly; choose Ti-Pd7B where maximum crevice resistance and ductility are needed, or C-2 where palladium is unnecessary. Grade Ti-Pd16 has a density of 4.51 g/cm³ (0.163 lb/in³), heavier than 57% of titanium grades. It melts at 1,660°C (3,020 °F). Grade Ti-Pd16 has a yield strength of 380 MPa (55.1 ksi) and a tensile strength of 450 MPa (65.3 ksi) — weaker than 73% of titanium grades. Elongation at break is 11% and the elastic modulus is 103 GPa (14.9 Msi).

Advantages
- High electrical conductivity — 3.1 % IACS, better than 75% of titanium grades
Limitations
- Limited ductility — 11%, worse than 87% of titanium grades

Working with Grade Ti-Pd16
Is Grade Ti-Pd16 easy to machine?
Machine like CP Ti: low surface speed (25–45 m/min carbide), heavy positive rake, sharp tools, generous flood coolant; avoid dwelling to prevent work hardening and titanium fire from fine chips.
Can Grade Ti-Pd16 be welded?
Excellent GTAW/EBW/plasma weldability with matching Ti-Pd filler (ERTi-7/16-type) under full argon trailing and back purge; keep weld and HAZ silver-bright, interpass <150 °C.
Can Grade Ti-Pd16 be formed, bent or molded?
Vacuum induction or skull melting with rammed-graphite or yttria-face investment moulds; allow for α-case removal by chem-milling 0.3–0.8 mm and expect low fluidity in thin sections (<3 mm).
