What is ENiCrFe-2?

ENiCrFe-2 (UNS W86133) is a Ni-Cr-Fe covered electrode used for welding Alloy 600 and Alloy 800 and for dissimilar joints between nickel alloys and steels. As-welded deposits run about 420 MPa yield, 620 MPa tensile, 38% elongation and 195 HB (91 HRB), with service to 650 °C. It is chosen for stable austenitic weld metal in transition joints and for cladding and overlay work in power plant equipment. Machinability is low (score 28), electrodes must be kept dry and slag fully removed between passes; ENiCrCoMo-1 is the alternative when service temperatures exceed this range. ENiCrFe-2 has a density of 8.3 g/cm³ (0.3 lb/in³), lighter than 52% of nickel alloy grades. It melts at 1,345°C (2,453 °F). ENiCrFe-2 has a yield strength of 420 MPa (60.9 ksi) and a tensile strength of 620 MPa (89.9 ksi) — stronger than 62% of nickel alloy grades. Elongation at break is 38% and the elastic modulus is 205 GPa (29.7 Msi).

Working with ENiCrFe-2

Is ENiCrFe-2 easy to machine?

Weld deposit machines like Alloy 600: low speed, heavy positive-rake carbide, rigid setup and flood coolant to avoid work hardening and glazing.

Can ENiCrFe-2 be welded?

SMAW with DCEP (some brands AC-capable); keep electrodes dry (re-bake ~300 °C), stringer beads, low heat input, interpass ≤150 °C, and clean slag fully between passes.

Can ENiCrFe-2 be formed, bent or molded?

Not a wrought product form; deposits are ductile enough for weld-bend qualification but should not be relied on for cold forming.
