What is N06210?
N06210 is a solid-solution nickel-chromium-iron alloy engineered for high-temperature strength with oxidation and nitridation resistance in furnace and combustion atmospheres. Solution-annealed or hot-finished product provides 320 MPa yield, 700 MPa tensile, 45% elongation and 180 HB (88 HRB), with service to 1150 °C, in the forms used for muffles, radiant tubes and heat-treat fixtures. Formability is moderate (score 60), the alloy work-hardens rapidly in the cut, and stock availability is limited; Haynes 230 or Alloy 601 covers similar duty from wider inventory. N06210 has a density of 7.9 g/cm³ (0.285 lb/in³), lighter than 92% of nickel alloy grades. It melts at 1,350°C (2,462 °F). N06210 has a yield strength of 320 MPa (46.4 ksi) and a tensile strength of 700 MPa (102 ksi) — weaker than 69% of nickel alloy grades. Elongation at break is 45% and the elastic modulus is 210 GPa (30.5 Msi).

Working with N06210
Is N06210 easy to machine?
Machine like a gummy solid-solution nickel alloy: rigid setup, positive-rake sharp carbide or ceramic tooling, low speed and heavy positive feed to cut under the work-hardened layer, flood high-pressure coolant, never dwell.
Can N06210 be welded?
Readily joined by GTAW/GMAW/PAW with matching or Ni-Cr filler; keep interpass temperature low, restrict heat input to limit grain growth, no preheat needed, and clean off all oxide/sulphur-bearing contaminants before welding.
Can N06210 be formed, bent or molded?
Cold formable but work-hardens rapidly — allow generous bend radii and interstage anneals near 1100 °C with rapid cooling; hot work in the roughly 1150–1200 °C range and finish above 950 °C.

What surface finishes work on N06210?
Not anodisable; pickle in HNO3-HF or grit blast plus pickle to remove the tenacious high-temperature scale, then passivate, grind or electropolish for a clean furnace-ready surface.
