What is N06255?
N06255 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum corrosion alloy developed for chemical-process environments that alternate between oxidizing and reducing media. It is chosen for combined acid and chloride resistance and is stocked as sheet, plate, bar and welded pipe in SA, HF-A, CD, CD+SR and AW conditions. Annealed values are 355 MPa yield, 760 MPa tensile, 55% elongation and 195 HB (89 HRB), with service to 650 °C and a corrosion-resistance score of 92. Machinability is poor (score 20) and cost is high; C-276 is the usual substitute where oxidizing service is less severe. N06255 has a density of 8.6 g/cm³ (0.311 lb/in³), heavier than 67% of nickel alloy grades. It melts at 1,330°C (2,426 °F). N06255 has a yield strength of 355 MPa (51.5 ksi) and a tensile strength of 760 MPa (110 ksi) — weaker than 59% of nickel alloy grades. Elongation at break is 55% and the elastic modulus is 205 GPa (29.7 Msi).

Working with N06255
Is N06255 easy to machine?
Treat like C-276/alloy 22: rigid setup, positive-rake sharp carbide or ceramic-free tooling, low speed / heavy positive feed to cut under the work-hardened skin, flood high-pressure coolant, never dwell.
Can N06255 be welded?
GTAW/GMAW with matching low-carbon Ni-Cr-Mo filler or autogenous on thin gauge; low heat input, interpass below ~120 °C, no preheat and normally no PWHT — full solution anneal only if maximum corrosion resistance is required.
Can N06255 be formed, bent or molded?
Very ductile but strongly work-hardening; allow larger bend radii and higher press tonnage than stainless, and interstage-anneal (solution anneal + quench) for deep draws or multi-stage forming.
