ERNiCr-3 is supplied in 4 conditions, soft to hard. AW is the default FabDigit quotes; the values on this page are for it.
Compare all 4 conditionsHide
| Condition · open for datasheet | Best for | Yield MPa | Tensile MPa | Elong. % | Hardness | Conductivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Solution annealed weld metal / annealed cut-length rod | Condition of straight-length GTAW rod as supplied and of weld metal given a full solution anneal (~1010–1100 °C) — softest, most ductile state. | 320 | 590 | 45 | 160 HB | 1.6 % IACS |
As Welded + PWHT | Pick when the joint must follow the base-metal PWHT cycle (e.g. Alloy 600 to low-alloy steel); slight strength drop, ductility retained. | 370 | 600 | 40 | 170 HB | 1.6 % IACS |
AWDefault As-welded deposit | Default reported condition: undiluted all-weld-metal properties per AWS A5.14 qualification, used for design of as-welded joints and overlays. | 400 | 620 | 38 | 180 HB | 1.6 % IACS |
Cold drawn spooled wire (MIG/MAG, hard temper) | As-drawn/temper-drawn layer-wound wire for GMAW and mechanized welding; the higher wire strength is for feedability/column strength, not for joint design. | 700 | 830 | 20 | 24 HRC | 1.5 % IACS |

What is ERNiCr-3?
ERNiCr-3 is a bare Ni-Cr-Fe-Nb filler wire (Alloy 82, UNS N06082) classified to AWS A5.14, used for GTAW, GMAW, PAW and SAW of Alloy 600/690 and dissimilar metal joints, often as the root pass under ENiCrFe-3 covered electrode fill. Working with ERNiCr-3
Is ERNiCr-3 easy to machine?
Weld deposits work-harden fast and are gummy: use rigid setups, positive-rake carbide, low speed / heavy feed and flood coolant; grinding of overlays needs soft aluminum-oxide wheels.
Can ERNiCr-3 be welded?
Designed as filler: GTAW/GMAW/PAW/SAW with Ar or Ar-He shielding, stringer beads, interpass ≤150 °C, no preheat needed on nickel base metals; keep dilution from carbon steel low to avoid Fe pickup.
Can ERNiCr-3 be formed, bent or molded?
Supplied as drawn wire — cold drawing and coiling only; re-straightened rod bends easily in the annealed state but work-hardens rapidly.
