| Condition · open for datasheet | Best for | Yield MPa | Tensile MPa | Elong. % | Hardness | Conductivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
BNi-11 mixed with superalloy or high-melt Ni powder | Choose for filling 0.25–2 mm gaps and crack repair in turbine blades/vanes where straight filler would erode or shrink. | 400 | 600 | 3 | 44 HRC | 1.4 % IACS |
Diffusion heat treated after brazing | Pick when joint ductility and stress-rupture life matter: long soak near braze temperature dissolves the centreline boride eutectic. | 430 | 650 | 4 | 40 HRC | 1.7 % IACS |
As-brazed joint (no diffusion cycle) | Baseline joint condition straight out of the braze cycle — highest hardness, most boride network, lowest ductility. | 480 | 520 | 1 | 54 HRC | 1.5 % IACS |

What is BNi-11?
BNi-11 (UNS N99624) is a high-chromium, high-boron nickel brazing filler related to the BNi-10 group, used for wide-gap and diffusion brazing repairs of superalloy parts. Density is 8.7 g/cm³ and the melting point is 970 °C, with furnace cycles run at roughly 1150–1205 °C in vacuum or dry hydrogen. It is supplied as powder, paste or binder-based tape and is frequently blended with high-melting superalloy powder to control shrinkage in wide joints. The as-brazed deposit is boride-hardened, crack-sensitive and cannot be machined conventionally; BNi-9 is the nearer option for narrow-gap, corrosion-driven joints. BNi-11 has a density of 8.7 g/cm³ (0.314 lb/in³), heavier than 75% of nickel alloy grades. It melts at 970°C (1,778 °F). The elastic modulus is 200 GPa (29 Msi).

Working with BNi-11
Is BNi-11 easy to machine?
Solidified braze deposit is boride-hardened and essentially unmachinable — finish by grinding, EDM or abrasive blending only.
Can BNi-11 be welded?
Not a fusion filler; the braze zone is crack-sensitive, so avoid arc welding directly over a BNi-11 joint.
Can BNi-11 be formed, bent or molded?
Supplied as powder, paste or binder-based tape; wide-gap repairs use blends with high-melt superalloy powder to control shrinkage.
