What is ERNiCrFe-7?
ERNiCrFe-7 is a high-chromium nickel-chromium-iron filler wire (UNS N06052, Filler Metal 52) used for welding Alloy 690 and for dissimilar-metal joints in nuclear steam generator and reactor vessel work, where improved stress-corrosion-cracking resistance is required. It is supplied as solution-annealed cold-drawn wire for GTAW, hot-wire GTAW and GMAW; as-welded deposits give about 415 MPa yield, 655 MPa tensile, 40% elongation, 185 HB and service to 950 °C, the highest in this filler family. The deposit is sluggish and prone to lack of fusion and ductility-dip cracking, and machining is difficult. ERNiCrFe-7A is the modified grade used where hot-crack resistance is critical. ERNiCrFe-7 has a density of 8.3 g/cm³ (0.3 lb/in³), lighter than 52% of nickel alloy grades. It melts at 1,360°C (2,480 °F). ERNiCrFe-7 has a yield strength of 415 MPa (60.2 ksi) and a tensile strength of 655 MPa (95 ksi) — stronger than 61% of nickel alloy grades. Elongation at break is 40% and the elastic modulus is 207 GPa (30 Msi).

Working with ERNiCrFe-7
Is ERNiCrFe-7 easy to machine?
Deposits machine like Alloy 690 — low speed, heavy positive-rake carbide, rigid setup and flood coolant to fight work hardening.
Can ERNiCrFe-7 be welded?
