What is ERNiCrFe-6?

ERNiCrFe-6 is a titanium-bearing nickel-chromium-iron filler wire (N07092, IN-92) developed for welding Alloy 800/800H and similar heat-resistant Ni-Fe-Cr alloys where weld and base-metal thermal expansion need to match. As-welded deposits run about 410 MPa yield, 655 MPa tensile, 35% elongation and 185 HB (90 HRB), with service to roughly 950 °C, and the product is offered only as drawn wire and rod for GTAW and GMAW. The titanium addition makes the pool sluggish and oxide-prone, and availability is narrower than for ERNiCr-3 or ERNiCrFe-5, which are the usual substitutes. ERNiCrFe-6 has a density of 8.2 g/cm³ (0.296 lb/in³), lighter than 63% of nickel alloy grades. It melts at 1,355°C (2,471 °F). ERNiCrFe-6 has a yield strength of 410 MPa (59.5 ksi) and a tensile strength of 655 MPa (95 ksi) — stronger than 60% of nickel alloy grades. Elongation at break is 35% and the elastic modulus is 207 GPa (30 Msi).

Working with ERNiCrFe-6

Is ERNiCrFe-6 easy to machine?

Weld deposits machine like Alloy 600 — gummy and work-hardening; use rigid setups, sharp positive-rake carbide, heavy feed, low SFM and flood coolant.

Can ERNiCrFe-6 be welded?

GTAW or short-arc GMAW with argon (add He for wider penetration); keep interpass below ~150 °C, low heat input, stringer beads and no weaving, and back-purge to avoid Ti/Cr oxide entrapment.

Can ERNiCrFe-6 be formed, bent or molded?

Supplied only as drawn wire/rod; the alloy cold-draws well but requires frequent intermediate annealing due to rapid work hardening.
