What is Inconel X-750?
Inconel X-750 (N07750, 2.4669, NiCr15Fe7TiAl) is a precipitation-hardenable Ni-Cr-Fe alloy strengthened by γ′ titanium and aluminium precipitates, giving 815 MPa yield and 1200 MPa tensile strength with corrosion resistance up to 704 °C. It is chosen for elevated-temperature spring and bolting hardware and is supplied as bar, wire, strip and sheet in annealed, equalized, spring-temper and various solution-treated plus aged conditions. Weldability is limited (score 40) by strain-age cracking risk, machinability is low (15) and springback in forming is large. Alloy 718 is the easier choice for welded fabrications below 650 °C. Inconel X-750 has a density of 8.28 g/cm³ (0.299 lb/in³), lighter than 55% of nickel alloy grades. It melts at 1,393°C (2,539 °F). Inconel X-750 has a yield strength of 815 MPa (118 ksi) and a tensile strength of 1,200 MPa (174 ksi) — stronger than 85% of nickel alloy grades. Elongation at break is 25% and the elastic modulus is 214 GPa (31 Msi).

Working with Inconel X-750
Is Inconel X-750 easy to machine?
Machine preferably in the annealed state with rigid setups, positive-rake carbide or ceramic tooling, low speed / heavy feed and flood coolant; aged material work-hardens sharply and needs sharp edges and no dwelling.
Can Inconel X-750 be welded?
GTAW with matching X-750 or Inconel 718/A-type filler; weld in the annealed condition, keep heat input low and re-solution-treat before ageing to avoid strain-age (post-weld heat treatment) cracking.
Can Inconel X-750 be formed, bent or molded?
Cold form only in the annealed or equalized condition — springback is large and forces are ~2× those for stainless; hot work at 1150–950 °C and re-anneal after heavy deformation.

What surface finishes work on Inconel X-750?
Not anodizable; use pickling/passivation, electropolishing, glass-bead or vapour blast, and vacuum heat treatment for bright surfaces; oxide films from ageing must be removed before brazing or plating.
