What is VT1-0-SR?
VT1-0-SR is VT1-0 heat treated to SR — for welded assemblies and machined parts where distortion control matters while retaining most cold-work strength. VT1-0-SR has a yield strength of 400 MPa (58 ksi) and a tensile strength of 500 MPa (72.5 ksi) — weaker than 68% of titanium grades. Elongation at break is 18% and the elastic modulus is 105 GPa (15.2 Msi). VT1-0-SR has a density of 4.51 g/cm³ (0.163 lb/in³), heavier than 57% of titanium grades. It melts at 1,660°C (3,020 °F). ANN is the default condition FabDigit quotes; SR is available on request or by drawing note.

Working with VT1-0-SR
Is VT1-0 easy to machine?
Low speeds, heavy positive-rake sharp carbide tooling and flood coolant; avoid dwelling (work hardening) and control chips — fine turnings are a fire hazard.
Can VT1-0 be welded?
Excellent GTAW/PAW/EBW weldability with full argon/helium shielding and trailing gas; keep weld zone bright silver — straw/blue/grey tint signals contamination and embrittlement.
Can VT1-0 be formed, bent or molded?
Formable cold with generous bend radii (≈2–3 t) and allowance for high springback; warm forming at 200–400 °C greatly improves deep-draw and bend performance.
What surface finishes work on VT1-0?
Pickle in HNO₃/HF to remove alpha case and scale; takes bright polishing, colour anodizing (AMS 2488 Type II) and PVD coatings; do not plate directly without activation.

VT1-0-SR — frequently asked
What is VT1-0-SR used for?
VT1-0-SR is typically used for seawater piping, heat exchangers, pressure vessels and architectural cladding. In short: grade 2-equivalent CP titanium; highly weldable seawater alloy; corrosion resistance at low density.
What is the yield strength of VT1-0-SR?
VT1-0-SR has a typical yield strength of 400 MPa (58 ksi) and a tensile strength of 500 MPa (72.5 ksi) — weaker than 68% of titanium grades. Strength varies by condition: see the 6 listed tempers.
Is VT1-0-SR easy to machine?
Not especially — machinability is rated poor (34/100, better than 74% of titanium grades). Low speeds, heavy positive-rake sharp carbide tooling and flood coolant; avoid dwelling (work hardening) and control chips — fine turnings are a fire hazard.
Can VT1-0-SR be welded?
Yes — weldability is rated excellent (85/100). Excellent GTAW/PAW/EBW weldability with full argon/helium shielding and trailing gas; keep weld zone bright silver — straw/blue/grey tint signals contamination and embrittlement.

What is the maximum service temperature of VT1-0-SR?
VT1-0-SR is rated for continuous use to about 300°C (572 °F). Strength falls off well before that limit — check the elevated-temperature data for load-bearing parts.
What is the difference between VT1-0-ANN and VT1-0-CW?
ANN is the default condition — default stocked condition: best ductility and formability, used for tube, sheet, plate and general fabrication. CW: choose when higher strength and stiffness-in-service are needed and forming is minimal; ductility roughly halved. Yield strength is 320 MPa in ANN versus 520 MPa in CW.
