What is ERNiMo-3?
ERNiMo-3 is a nickel-molybdenum filler wire (UNS N10675, AWS A5.14 family) matching Hastelloy B-3, selected for welds exposed to hydrochloric acid and other non-oxidizing reducing acids. It is supplied as cold-drawn spool wire and solution-annealed wire for GTAW and GMAW of B-3 plate, pipe and overlay; as-welded deposits give about 440 MPa yield, 760 MPa tensile, 40 % elongation and 210 HB (92 HRB), with a corrosion score of 85. Service is limited to 550 °C, the alloy has no chromium so it is unsuitable for oxidizing media, and machinability is very low (score 15); use ERNiCrMo-4 where oxidizers or chlorides are present. ERNiMo-3 has a density of 9.22 g/cm³ (0.333 lb/in³), heavier than 97% of nickel alloy grades. It melts at 1,370°C (2,498 °F). ERNiMo-3 has a yield strength of 440 MPa (63.8 ksi) and a tensile strength of 760 MPa (110 ksi) — stronger than 65% of nickel alloy grades. Elongation at break is 40% and the elastic modulus is 217 GPa (31.5 Msi).

Working with ERNiMo-3
Is ERNiMo-3 easy to machine?
Weld overlay machines like solution-annealed Ni-Mo: slow speeds, heavy positive-rake carbide, rigid setup and flood coolant; expect rapid work hardening and poor chip breaking.
Can ERNiMo-3 be welded?
GTAW/GMAW with 100 % Ar (or Ar-He), stringer beads, low heat input and interpass ≤95–150 °C; no preheat, no filler dilution with high-Cr/high-Fe metals, and avoid prolonged 650–900 °C exposure.
Can ERNiMo-3 be formed, bent or molded?
Supplied as drawn wire; joint design should allow low-restraint, multi-pass filling since the deposit is ductile but sensitive to high dilution from carbon steel.

What surface finishes work on ERNiMo-3?
Remove all weld heat tint and oxide by pickling, grinding or stainless brushing before service — residual scale sharply degrades HCl resistance; electropolishing gives the best surface, anodizing is not applicable.
