What is N06035?

N06035 (2.4643) is a wrought high-nickel Ni-Cr-Fe alloy from the same family as 602CA and 693, specified for elevated-temperature strength and resistance to oxidizing and carburizing furnace atmospheres. Solution-annealed material gives 360 MPa yield, 760 MPa tensile, 60 % elongation and 88 HRB, with a 650 °C service rating, high corrosion resistance (score 91) and good weldability (score 78) in sheet, plate, bar and tube. The trade-off is machinability: at score 18 it is among the hardest nickel alloys to cut, and it work-hardens strongly during forming. Alloy 625 or C-276 are the nearest substitutes where availability or wet-corrosion data drive the choice. N06035 has a density of 8.19 g/cm³ (0.296 lb/in³), lighter than 68% of nickel alloy grades. It melts at 1,330°C (2,426 °F). N06035 has a yield strength of 360 MPa (52.2 ksi) and a tensile strength of 760 MPa (110 ksi) — weaker than 57% of nickel alloy grades. Elongation at break is 60% and the elastic modulus is 211 GPa (30.6 Msi).

N06035 — frequently asked

What is N06035 used for?

N06035 is typically used for high-temperature furnace components, process heater tubing and heat-resistant fixtures. In short: furnace-atmosphere Ni-Cr alloy; very high corrosion resistance; difficult to machine.

What is the yield strength of N06035?

N06035 has a typical yield strength of 360 MPa (52.2 ksi) and a tensile strength of 760 MPa (110 ksi) — weaker than 57% of nickel alloy grades. Strength varies by condition: see the 4 listed tempers.

Is N06035 easy to machine?

Not especially — machinability is rated poor (18/100, worse than 61% of nickel alloy grades). Machine like alloy 625/C-276: rigid setup, positive-rake carbide, heavy positive feed to cut under the work-hardened layer, low SFM and flood coolant.

Can N06035 be welded?

Yes — weldability is rated very good (78/100). Readily GTAW/GMAW welded with matching G-35 filler; keep interpass below ~100 °C, low heat input, no preheat and no PWHT required for corrosion service.

What surface finishes work on N06035?

Can N06035 be formed, bent or molded?

Very ductile but strongly work hardening — form hot at 950–1200 °C or cold with intermediate solution anneals at ~1120 °C followed by rapid quench.

What is the maximum service temperature of N06035?

N06035 is rated for continuous use to about 650°C (1,202 °F). Strength falls off well before that limit — check the elevated-temperature data for load-bearing parts.
