What is ERNiCrMo-1?
ERNiCrMo-1 is a legacy nickel-chromium-molybdenum filler wire (UNS N10004) matched to Hastelloy W base metal, valued for as-welded ductility in strong reducing acid service. It is supplied as drawn wire and cut rod for GTAW and GMAW, with as-welded deposits around 400 MPa yield, 655 MPa tensile, 40% elongation and 195 HB. Service is limited to about 550 °C and the corrosion rating (80) is below modern Ni-Cr-Mo fillers, and availability is restricted because the base alloy is largely obsolete. For new construction, ERNiCrMo-4 (C-276 type) is the usual replacement. ERNiCrMo-1 has a density of 8.31 g/cm³ (0.3 lb/in³), heavier than 51% of nickel alloy grades. It melts at 1,260°C (2,300 °F). ERNiCrMo-1 has a yield strength of 400 MPa (58 ksi) and a tensile strength of 655 MPa (95 ksi) — stronger than 56% of nickel alloy grades. Elongation at break is 40% and the elastic modulus is 196 GPa (28.4 Msi).

Working with ERNiCrMo-1
Is ERNiCrMo-1 easy to machine?
Weld deposits machine like a solution-annealed Ni-Cr-Mo alloy: low speed, heavy positive-rake carbide, rigid setup and flood coolant to avoid work hardening and built-up edge.
Can ERNiCrMo-1 be welded?
Use GTAW/GMAW with 100 % Ar (or Ar-He) shielding, low heat input, stringer beads and interpass below ~120 °C; keep the deposit free of sulfur/lead contamination to avoid hot cracking.
Can ERNiCrMo-1 be formed, bent or molded?
Supplied as drawn wire or cut rod; deposits are ductile enough for cold straightening but heavy cold work on overlays should be followed by solution anneal.
