1330 Q&T is 1330 heat treated to Q&T — choose quenched and tempered near 540 °C (≈26–30 HRC) as the general-purpose condition for shafts and bolts needing about 900 MPa tensile strength with good toughness and 18% elongation. 1330 Q&T has a yield strength of 830 MPa (120 ksi) and a tensile strength of 910 MPa (132 ksi) — stronger than 87% of steel grades. Elongation at break is 18% and the elastic modulus is 205 GPa (29.7 Msi). 1330 Q&T has a density of 7.85 g/cm³ (0.284 lb/in³), heavier than 56% of steel grades. It melts at 1,425°C (2,597 °F). Is 1330 easy to machine?

Machines like a medium-carbon steel at ~60% of 1212; best in annealed/normalized state with rigid setups, carbide tooling and copious coolant — the high Mn makes chips gummy and work-hardening prone above 300 HB.

Can 1330 be welded?

Weldable with low-hydrogen electrodes but C≈0.30 plus 1.75 Mn gives high hardenability: preheat 200–300 °C, control interpass, and stress-relieve or re-temper after welding; avoid welding in the fully hardened condition.

Can 1330 be formed, bent or molded?

Hot forge 1100–1200 °C and finish above 900 °C, then normalize; cold bending only in annealed condition with generous bend radii (≥2.5 t).
