What is C10300?
C10300 (Cu-OFP, CW020A) is an oxygen-free copper with a small controlled phosphorus addition that improves resistance to hydrogen embrittlement while holding conductivity at 101 % IACS. Annealed material gives 69 MPa yield, 230 MPa tensile, 45 % elongation, 42 HB and 391 W/m·K, with service to 300 °C, and it is stocked in tempers from O60 through H80 as plate, sheet, tube and rod. The main limits are poor machinability (about 20 % of AISI 1212), softening in the weld HAZ and no anodizing. C10100 or C10200 serve where the phosphorus addition is not wanted. C10300 has a density of 8.94 g/cm³ (0.323 lb/in³), heavier than 90% of copper alloy grades. It melts at 1,083°C (1,981 °F). C10300 has a yield strength of 69 MPa (10 ksi) and a tensile strength of 230 MPa (33.4 ksi) — weaker than 96% of copper alloy grades. Elongation at break is 45% and the elastic modulus is 117 GPa (17 Msi).

Working with C10300
Is C10300 easy to machine?
Gummy and low-rated (~20% of AISI 1212): use sharp positive-rake tools, high speed, generous coolant and avoid dwell to prevent smearing.
Can C10300 be welded?
Excellent for GTAW/GMAW/EBW and brazing — the P deoxidation prevents hydrogen embrittlement; high heat input or preheat needed because of the 390 W/m·K conductivity.
Can C10300 be formed, bent or molded?
Annealed temper deep draws, spins and bends superbly; hard tempers need large bend radii and interstage annealing at 400–600 °C.

Limits by weight percent from the governing specification, written the way the spec states them — a single maximum for impurities, a range for alloying elements, and the base element as balance. Nominal is the typical mid-range value.

What surface finishes work on C10300?
Not anodisable — electroplate Ni/Ag/Sn, chemically brighten or polish; bare surfaces tarnish and benefit from lacquer or benzotriazole treatment.
