What is BrO10F1?

BrO10F1 is a Russian-standard tin–phosphor bronze casting alloy corresponding to C90700, with a high tin content and a phosphorus addition that produces a hard, wear-resistant structure for gears and bearings. Typical properties are 155 MPa yield, 290 MPa tensile, 6 % elongation and 100 HB, supplied as sand, chill, centrifugal, continuous and die castings. It is specified in CIS-market equipment for compressively loaded parts; low ductility and poor fusion weldability mean it needs full support and machined-to-fit bores. PBC2 (C90700) is the direct Japanese-standard equivalent for the same duty. BrO10F1 has a density of 8.76 g/cm³ (0.316 lb/in³), heavier than 51% of copper alloy grades. It melts at 830°C (1,526 °F). BrO10F1 has a yield strength of 155 MPa (22.5 ksi) and a tensile strength of 290 MPa (42.1 ksi) — weaker than 65% of copper alloy grades. Elongation at break is 6% and the elastic modulus is 103 GPa (14.9 Msi).

Working with BrO10F1

Is BrO10F1 easy to machine?

Unleaded and gummy — use sharp positive-rake carbide, high speed with modest feed and coolant; chipbreakers needed, rating ≈20 % of AISI 1212.

Can BrO10F1 be welded?

Poor fusion weldability (hot-shortness and P loss); repair by TIG/oxy-fuel with matching phosphor-bronze rod, preheat 150–250 °C, or braze instead.

Can BrO10F1 be formed, bent or molded?

Casting alloy only — wide freezing range means generous risers, chills and directional solidification to avoid interdendritic shrinkage; centrifugal or continuous casting gives the soundest metal.
