Compare all 12 conditionsHide
| Condition · open for datasheet | Best for | Yield MPa | Tensile MPa | Elong. % | Hardness | Conductivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Annealed | Default stock condition: choose for deep drawing, spinning, foil, gaskets, cryogenic parts and maximum conductivity. | 25 | 70 | 43 | 20 HB | 59.5 % IACS |
Slightly strain hardened | Essentially annealed sheet that has picked up slight work from levelling or straightening; use where O-temper properties plus flatness are needed. | 28 | 75 | 38 | 21 HB | 59.5 % IACS |
Strain hardened from hot working only | High-purity aluminium (Al 99.8) in the as-hot-worked H112 condition — slightly above annealed strength with guaranteed minimums, retaining excellent formability, conductivity and bright anodizing response. | 30 | 75 | 26 | 21 HB | 59 % IACS |
Strain hardened and partially annealed, quarter hard | Stabilised quarter-hard sheet with better ductility than H12 at the same strength level — good for bending after slitting. | 65 | 90 | 14 | 24 HB | 59 % IACS |
Strain hardened, quarter hard | Light cold work for slightly stiffer sheet that still bends and forms readily. | 70 | 90 | 12 | 25 HB | 59 % IACS |
Strain hardened and partially annealed, half hard | Half-hard temper with retained bendability; widely used for formed sheet parts and roll-formed profiles. | 80 | 105 | 10 | 27 HB | 59 % IACS |
Strain hardened, half hard | Common general-purpose sheet temper: better handling stiffness with usable bend performance. | 85 | 105 | 9 | 28 HB | 59 % IACS |
Strain hardened and partially annealed, three-quarter hard | Stabilised three-quarter hard strip for stiffer formed components. | 95 | 120 | 7 | 31 HB | 58.5 % IACS |
Strain hardened, three-quarter hard | Choose for flat, springy strip and shallow forming where higher strength matters more than bend radius. | 100 | 120 | 6 | 32 HB | 58.5 % IACS |
Strain hardened and partially annealed, full hard | Stabilised full-hard strip/foil temper for high-strength, dimensionally stable thin gauges. | 120 | 140 | 5 | 34 HB | 58 % IACS |
Strain hardened, full hard | Fully work-hardened strip/foil temper; pick for maximum strength, flatness and slitting quality with minimal bending. | 125 | 140 | 5 | 35 HB | 58 % IACS |
Strain hardened, extra hard | Extra-hard foil and thin strip temper used where the highest cold-worked strength of pure aluminium is required. | 145 | 160 | 4 | 38 HB | 58 % IACS |
What is 1080?
1080 is a commercially high-purity wrought aluminium (99.80 % Al min) supplied mainly as foil, strip, sheet and bright-anodizing stock. It is chosen for its very high electrical and thermal conductivity, outstanding cold formability, excellent atmospheric/chemical corrosion resistance and the brilliant specular finish it gives after bright anodizing or polishing. Its limits are very low strength (only work-hardenable, no heat-treat response), gummy behaviour in machining, and rapid softening above roughly 100–150 °C. 1080 has a density of 2.7 g/cm³ (0.0975 lb/in³), lighter than 59% of aluminum grades. It melts at 646°C (1,195 °F). 1080 has a yield strength of 25 MPa (3.63 ksi) and a tensile strength of 70 MPa (10.2 ksi) — weaker than 98% of aluminum grades. Elongation at break is 43% and the elastic modulus is 69 GPa (10 Msi).

Working with 1080
Is 1080 easy to machine?
Very soft and gummy — use sharp polished high-rake carbide, high speed, generous flood or mist lubrication and avoid dwell to prevent built-up edge and smearing.
Can 1080 be welded?
Excellent by GTAW/GMAW with 1188 or 1100 filler; joint softens to near-O properties in cold-worked tempers and weld strength is limited to ~60–70 MPa.
Can 1080 be formed, bent or molded?
Outstanding cold formability in O/H1x2 tempers — deep drawing, spinning, foil rolling and tight bends; springback is minimal but tearing risk rises sharply in H18/H19.
Manufacturability
The process limits FabDigit applies to 1080. Every 1080 part is priced by an engineer; design inside these and the quote comes back without a redesign loop.
