What is 1050A?
1050A is a commercially pure wrought aluminum grade (99.5% Al minimum) in the EN 573 1000-series family, strengthened only by cold work and held to tighter impurity limits than 1050. It is used for spinning, deep drawing and general fabrication where formability, 229 W/m·K thermal conductivity and 61% IACS electrical conductivity matter more than strength; common forms are sheet, strip, foil, plate and simple extrusions in tempers F through H19. Strength is low (105 MPa yield, 115 MPa tensile in the default temper, 30 HB) and it is not heat treatable, with cold-worked tempers softening above about 120 °C service. Where more strength is needed with similar corrosion behaviour, 3003 is the usual step up. 1050A has a density of 2.71 g/cm³ (0.0977 lb/in³), lighter than 54% of aluminum grades. It melts at 646°C (1,195 °F). 1050A has a yield strength of 105 MPa (15.2 ksi) and a tensile strength of 115 MPa (16.7 ksi) — weaker than 84% of aluminum grades. Elongation at break is 8% and the elastic modulus is 69 GPa (10 Msi).

Working with 1050A
Is 1050A easy to machine?
Very soft and gummy — use polished high-rake carbide tools, high surface speed, generous chip clearance and lubricating coolant to prevent built-up edge; harder H16–H19 tempers cut cleaner.
Can 1050A be welded?
Readily TIG/MIG welded with 1100/1188 or 4043 filler and resistance/friction-stir welded; the HAZ reverts to O-temper strength so design joints for annealed properties.
Can 1050A be formed, bent or molded?
Outstanding cold formability — deep drawing, metal spinning, roll forming and tight bends (near 0T in O temper); interanneal at 340–410 °C when severe multi-stage drawing is needed.

What surface finishes work on 1050A?
