Working with Dillidur 400V

Is Dillidur 400V easy to machine?

Machine at 400 HB with rigid setups, negative-rake coated carbide or CBN, low speeds and heavy feeds; drilling needs high thrust and coolant, and plasma/laser-cut edges should be dressed before machining.

Can Dillidur 400V be welded?

Weldable with low-hydrogen consumables (softer than base metal is acceptable); control preheat (typically 100–175 °C by thickness/CEV), keep interpass below ~225 °C and limit heat input to protect the HAZ hardness.

Can Dillidur 400V be formed, bent or molded?

Cold bendable with generous radii (about 3–4× thickness, bend axis transverse to rolling direction) on high-tonnage presses; no hot forming above ~250 °C without full re-hardening.

What surface finishes work on Dillidur 400V?

Shot-blast and paint or use a corrosion-resistant liner coating for outdoor/wet duty; hard chrome or thermal spray is unnecessary and hot-dip galvanizing risks tempering and hydrogen issues.
