What is BAg-37 AS-BRAZED?
BAg-37 AS-BRAZED is BAg-37 heat treated to AS-BRAZED — use this state when rating joint load capacity: strength is governed by the base metal, a 0.05–0.15 mm gap and fill ratio, with service temperature limited to 200 °C. BAg-37 AS-BRAZED has a yield strength of 220 MPa (31.9 ksi) and a tensile strength of 400 MPa (58 ksi) — stronger than 67% of precious metal grades. Elongation at break is 25% and the elastic modulus is 90 GPa (13.1 Msi). BAg-37 AS-BRAZED has a density of 8.7 g/cm³ (0.314 lb/in³), lighter than 96% of precious metal grades. It melts at 700°C (1,292 °F).

Working with BAg-37 AS-BRAZED
Is BAg-37 easy to machine?
The filler itself is seldom machined. For cutting to length or shearing use sharp edges and low speeds, as the alloy is tough and smears onto tooling.
Can BAg-37 be welded?
Used as a brazing filler, not for fusion welding. Braze at 810-860 °C with an AWS FB3-A borax-fluoride flux, heating quickly and holding briefly to reduce zinc evaporation.
Can BAg-37 be formed, bent or molded?
Annealed material can be drawn to wire, rolled to strip and stamped into brazing rings. Intermediate anneal at about 600 °C when cold reduction is high.
What surface finishes work on BAg-37?
Residual flux must be removed completely after brazing with hot water or dilute acid, otherwise the residue corrodes the joint. Joints can be nickel or tin plated; polished seams are yellow-white and will not color-match stainless steel.
