What is IC-Ag99.95?
IC-Ag99.95 is a high-purity refined silver ingot grade at 99.95% Ag, used for electrical contacts, catalytic and chemical hardware, and as alloying feedstock. Engineers specify it for 106% IACS electrical conductivity and 429 W/m·K thermal conductivity with 35% elongation in the O condition, and it is stocked as cast ingot, grain and O/H02/H04/H08 rolled and drawn product. It carries only 45 MPa yield, 130 MPa tensile and 25 HB with a 300 °C service ceiling, machines poorly (score 45) and tarnishes in sulfide environments. IC-Ag99.99 is the choice when 4N purity is specified. IC-Ag99.95 has a density of 10.49 g/cm³ (0.379 lb/in³), heavier than 55% of precious metal grades. It melts at 962°C (1,763 °F). IC-Ag99.95 has a yield strength of 45 MPa (6.53 ksi) and a tensile strength of 130 MPa (18.9 ksi) — weaker than 98% of precious metal grades. Elongation at break is 35% and the elastic modulus is 74 GPa (10.7 Msi).

Working with IC-Ag99.95
Is IC-Ag99.95 easy to machine?
Very gummy — use sharp polished high-rake HSS/carbide, high speed, light depth and generous lubrication to avoid smearing and built-up edge; collect all swarf for refining.
Can IC-Ag99.95 be welded?
Resistance, laser and micro-TIG welding work but the 429 W/m·K conductivity demands short, high-energy pulses; more commonly joined by silver brazing or soft soldering.
Can IC-Ag99.95 be formed, bent or molded?
Outstanding cold formability in O temper (deep draw, spin, roll-bond, draw to <25 µm wire); anneal 550–650 °C in slightly reducing or inert atmosphere and avoid oxygen/hydrogen embrittlement cycles.
