Working with BAg-36

Is BAg-36 easy to machine?

Not a structural machining material; the soft deposit smears — remove excess fillet by grinding or filing rather than turning.

Can BAg-36 be welded?

Used as a brazing filler itself: braze at 680–760 °C with a white flux (AWS FB3-A/3-C), heat the parent metal not the wire, and keep dwell short to limit zinc fuming.

Can BAg-36 be formed, bent or molded?

Excellent cold drawability and rollability in the annealed state; hard-drawn wire should be re-annealed before tight ring forming.

What surface finishes work on BAg-36?

Fillets can be polished to a silver-white finish; remove all residual flux by hot-water quench or acid pickle to prevent glassy residue and later corrosion.
