What is C41300?
C41300 is a low-zinc tin brass — copper-zinc with a tin addition that raises strength and corrosion resistance over plain brasses of similar zinc content — supplied across a wide temper range from OS050 through H10. It is used as strip and wire for stamped and formed electrical parts: the default condition gives 400 MPa yield, 455 MPa tensile, 8% elongation, 130 HB (72 HRB), 28% IACS conductivity and a 180 °C maximum service temperature, with a formability score of 55. It is unleaded, so machinability is only about 30% of free-cutting brass; for screw-machine work choose a leaded brass such as C36000. C41300 has a density of 8.8 g/cm³ (0.318 lb/in³), heavier than 58% of copper alloy grades. It melts at 1,005°C (1,841 °F). C41300 has a yield strength of 400 MPa (58 ksi) and a tensile strength of 455 MPa (66 ksi) — stronger than 80% of copper alloy grades. Elongation at break is 8% and the elastic modulus is 110 GPa (16 Msi).

Working with C41300
Is C41300 easy to machine?
Unleaded tin brass — gummy, long chips; rate ≈30% of free-cutting brass, use sharp positive-rake tools, high speed and good lubrication.
Can C41300 be welded?
Excellent for soft soldering and brazing; resistance welding good, GTAW/GMAW only fair because of zinc fuming — vent and use Cu-Si or Cu-Sn filler.
Can C41300 be formed, bent or molded?
Excellent cold formability in OS tempers (deep draws, tight bends); in H04 and harder bend with grain and generous radii, and stress-relieve at ~250–275 °C to avoid ammonia SCC.
C41300 chemical composition (wt %)
Limits by weight percent from the governing specification, written the way the spec states them — a single maximum for impurities, a range for alloying elements, and the base element as balance. Nominal is the typical mid-range value.
| Element | Spec limit (wt %) | Nominal |
|---|---|---|
| CuCu + named elements ≥ 99.7% (Ag countable as Cu) | 89 – 93 | 91 |
| Sn | 0.7 – 1.3 | 1 |
| Pbimpurity limit | ≤ 0.1 | |
| Feimpurity limit | ≤ 0.05 | |

What surface finishes work on C41300?
Takes bright polish, tin, nickel, silver and gold plating readily; no anodizing — use lacquer or benzotriazole passivation to prevent tarnish.
