Working with C35000

Is C35000 easy to machine?

Rated ~70% of C36000 — free-breaking chips with sharp positive-rake carbide or HSS, high speeds and light feeds; flood coolant keeps lead smearing off finished bores.

Can C35000 be welded?

Fusion welding is not recommended (lead causes hot cracking and zinc fume); join by soft soldering, silver brazing or mechanical fastening with good ventilation.

Can C35000 be formed, bent or molded?

Anneal (450–600 °C) or use O60/H01 for deep bends and rivet upsets; hot forge at 650–760 °C — cold formability drops sharply above H04.

What surface finishes work on C35000?

Buffs and mirror-polishes well, takes bright nickel/chrome, tin or gold plating; deburr and de-lead (acid pickle) before plating, or clear-lacquer to retard tarnish.

How much does C35000 cost?

C35000 is a premium-cost copper alloy ($$$), cheaper than about 51% of the materials FabDigit quotes. Part price depends far more on geometry, tolerance and quantity than on the raw stock — upload a CAD file for a live quote.

C35000 — frequently asked

What is C35000 used for?

C35000 is typically used for forged fittings, machined hardware and plumbing components. In short: forms better than C36000; medium-leaded forging brass; not fusion weldable.

What is the yield strength of C35000?

C35000 has a typical yield strength of 345 MPa (50 ksi) and a tensile strength of 420 MPa (60.9 ksi) — stronger than 73% of copper alloy grades. Strength varies by condition: see the 8 listed tempers.

Is C35000 easy to machine?

Yes — machinability is rated very good (75/100, better than 80% of copper alloy grades). Rated ~70% of C36000 — free-breaking chips with sharp positive-rake carbide or HSS, high speeds and light feeds; flood coolant keeps lead smearing off finished bores.

Can C35000 be welded?

Not readily — weldability is rated poor (20/100). Fusion welding is not recommended (lead causes hot cracking and zinc fume); join by soft soldering, silver brazing or mechanical fastening with good ventilation.

What surface finishes work on C35000?

Buffs and mirror-polishes well, takes bright nickel/chrome, tin or gold plating; deburr and de-lead (acid pickle) before plating, or clear-lacquer to retard tarnish.

Can C35000 be formed, bent or molded?

Anneal (450–600 °C) or use O60/H01 for deep bends and rivet upsets; hot forge at 650–760 °C — cold formability drops sharply above H04.

What is the maximum service temperature of C35000?

C35000 is rated for continuous use to about 150°C (302 °F). Strength falls off well before that limit — check the elevated-temperature data for load-bearing parts.

What is the difference between C35000-H02 and C35000-O60?
